In partnership with Southwest Virginia Community College and the Southwest Virginia Workforce Investment Board, SVTDC will offer the following IT Bootcamp (fast track) programs. Tuition assistance may be available to some students. Limited seats are available, so please apply early.
CUSTOMER CARE - ENROLLMENT DEADLINE APRIL 1
This Career Studies Certificate program will be offered in the evening as a means to give individuals entry-level skills into IT-based companies. Southwest Virginia Community College will be offering this program in response to the growing trend and numerous opportunities in call centers in the region. Individuals will obtain skills in keyboarding, phone etiquette, overview and understanding of the call center industry and gain proficiency in Office 2007 – Word, Access, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.
IT HELPDESK - ENROLLMENT DEADLINE MARCH 1
This accelerated Help Desk Support Program will prepare students for the many opportunies in the region with more intensive information technology positions. Individuals interested should be proficient with computers. The classes will be taught two evenings weekly, Mondays and Wednesdays with face to face instruction or the option of online instruction with expected completion date, June 14, 2010. This program has been endorsed by Northrop Grumman. The first 12 students accepted into this program will receive full tuition and a $500 book scholarship. Seating is limited. NETWORK SECURITY - COMING FALL 2010
Cohorts now forming for this Fast Track Program beginning Fall semester 2010. The program is an accelerated online program designed to train participants for career opportunities such as network security specialists, network administrators, network security officer, security consultant, security engineer, and information security analyst. The program will cover network security concepts, cyber-law, incident response, forensics, hacking, firewalls, and VPNs. Even though the program can be completed online, there will be a classroom meeting option available.
