Media Training: Practical Approaches to Being an Effective Spokesperson
An interview or press conference offers an organization its best chance to make a good impression and to get its message to the public. Media Relations: Be Your Own Spokesperson teaches ways a company, organization or individual can prepare for both welcome and unwelcome media attention. Instruction will be provided on ways to work with the media in various interview situations. Real-life examples and interview practice sessions will be featured.
The program will be led by William Wampler and Kathy Still, both of The University of Virginia’s College at Wise. UVa-Wise operates the SVTDC.
Wampler serves as a Senior Lecturer for UVa-Wise. He also is a member of the General Assembly, representing the 40th District in the Senate of Virginia since 1988.
Kathy Still serves as the assistant director of college relations at UVa-Wise. She previously had worked more than 20 years as a reporter for the Bristol Herald Courier and The Post.
