Media Training:  Practical Approaches to Being an Effective Spokesperson

An interview or press conference offers an organization its best chance to make a good impression and to get its message to the public.  The Media Training Program teaches ways a company, organization or individual can prepare for both welcome and unwelcome media attention.

The program will be led by William Wampler and Kathy Still, both of The University of Virginia’s College at Wise. UVa-Wise operates the SVTDC.

Wampler serves as a Senior Lecturer for UVa-Wise. He also is a member of the General Assembly, representing the 40th District in the Senate of Virginia since 1988.

Kathy Still serves as the assistant director of college relations at UVa-Wise. She previously had worked more than 20 years as a reporter for the Bristol Herald Courier and The Post.

The media training workshop teaches ways a company, organization or individual can prepare for both welcome and unwelcome media attention.
